My name is Amy and I am a full accredited and qualified therapist, practicing cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
I currently lead a team of NHS CBT therapists, providing supervision and individual therapy to adults experiencing moderate-severe mental health difficulties.
I am accredited with the BABCP, FDAP and have a masters in Addiction Psychology & Counselling in addition to my PG Dip in Psychological Therapies (CBT).
Prior to counselling, my background was in supporting children and young people with learning difficulties and delivering youth justice rehabilitation programmes.
CBT and ACT are evidence based models of therapy, meaning that they are recommended by the NHS and NICE guidelines to treat Depression and Anxiety Disorders. Both approaches are active and change focussed - they target unhelpful cycles of behaviour and provide alternative strategies to cope with the difficulties life can throw at us. My approach is approachable and warm, with a focus on improving self-compassion and resilience.
I have 9 years experienced working therapeutically and treat the following conditions:
I have also completed specialist training in supporting people with long term physical health difficulties such as diabetes, cancer and chronic pain.
If you find yourself feeling stuck in a rut and would like help understanding
why and how this cycle is being maintained, please give me a call.
Together, we can identify a new way of coping in line with your values to help you achieve your goals.
